I'm your trusty sidekick geek girl. (That was funnier to me when I actually owned a Sidekick.) I write about the books that I read over here. I like things, and stuff about things.
Women! What is it about them? Can’t live with them or without them!
You know that thing where you watch Rent as an adult and you’re just like, “…you assholes. Pay your fucking rent. I know you don’t want to ~sell out~ or whatever, but it’s totally possible to have a job and Make Art. Mimi has a job, and she’s a drug-addicted and HIV+. Angel manages to take care of himself without playing on his rich friend’s charity while simultaneously giving him shit. Stop whining about how mean Benny is and go wait tables at the Life Cafe”? That effect is compounded even more in the movie version where Mark and Maureen are in their thirties and Joanne the lawyer looks like twenty-five. Joanne, you functional-ass adult, I will totally take you, baby.
My God, as a teenager I was just like, “YES, MAKE ART AND HELP PEOPLE! ;________;”
And then a few months ago we were rewatching this and we spent the whole thing just hollering “GET A JOB!“
But then, this movie did introduce me to the wonder that is Tracie Thoms, so. Tracie, girl, let me love you.
I want this video.
BEST EVER ALWAYS
they’re not sharing the video (um not accusing, just passing the info along) which gives me a sad because you guys. you guys this performance *___________*
They are a dick and in fact worse for making gifs to taunt us.
Seriously, ugh. Goddammit.

I confess to ‘hate-watching’ Glee and probably will continue to do so until I actually really hate it. I hate most of it, but not enough of it to stop me. I digress, but only slightly, which was really to point out that I kind of like musical television, with the exception of Cop Rock (I mean I do have ears). I watched the series premiere of Smash and went as far as downloading one (ok all) of the songs from the show. So if that’s any indication of my feelings about the pilot and the potential success of the show then I suggest doing the same.
My favorite thing about the show that I have read was this statement from Cinema Blend:
“I get it. It’s like Glee, but for people with self-respect.”
Well, I am boarding on having self-respect so you’ll have to trust me on this and at least watch the pilot which is available for free on Amazon and iTunes right now. The show premieres on NBC February 6th.
I hate Katharine McPhee but I love Megan Hilty. I’ll watch Smash for a while to see how it develops.
