UNPOPULAR OPINION AHEAD
When Fox puts forward the nominees to be considered for Emmys, Lea Michele and Cory Monteith are submitted for Best Actor/Actress in a LEADING ROLE. [CORRECTION: It was pointed out to me that only Lea Michele is nominated in the Leading Role category. But my point still stands. So long as Lea is getting nominated for Lead Actress, everything she does is going to get more screen time.]
Chris Colfer and Darren Criss are submitted for SUPPORTING ROLE.
Finchel are the Alpha couple on this show. And no matter how much Klainers would love to have Klaine be the Alpha couple on the show, they are not. That is the reality of Glee.
It doesn’t mean that RIB are being homophobic. If you look at the amount of screen time that Tina and Mike get as far as dedicated story arc time, I think Klaine do damn well.
And this proposal? This is NOT a good thing. It’s a hot mess. It’s way too early, and Rachel is going to say no. And yeah, they cut the gum-wrapper scene. It’s time to let go of that. We’ll see it eventually. And THAT is a genuine and APPROPRIATE gesture. So yeah, I’d rather have that photo and the promise to get to see that scene than the trainwreck Finchel stuff we got tonight.
Look, I am a Klainer until the day I die. But on days like today, I get REALLY frustrated with certain segments of Klaine fandom. So watch this (which is a million times more romantic than an inappropriate kiss in front of the whole glee club) and enjoy the fact that we have an AMAZING OTP.
What’s frustrating is people trying to make this about shipping. I like Kurt/Blaine and Brittany/Santana but this is not about pairings I like not getting everything. it’s about the fact that Glee talks a big game about being equal and how the gay couples get treated the same as the straight couples, when in fact that is so clearly a complete lie. If, by some miracle, the show would have focused on Mike/Tina all the time, I would have had the same complaint and I love them. I don’t need Kurt/Blaine or Brittana to be alpha couples, I want some freaking balance so that the gay couples don’t just get dragged out for a Very Special Episode and after that get five seconds of screen time where you can maybe sort of guess that they’re together, but who knows, because they don’t really touch.
I really resent certain segments of this whole fandom for acting like these very real problems are just petty squabblings of immature fanbrats who are just mad about their ships not getting all the screentime rather than acknowledging the very prominent blinders the showrunners have. It’s nice that people can pat the showrunners on the back at the same time as TPTB congratulate themselves on how progressive and groundbreaking they are. I don’t really care to do that and it doesn’t make me entitled to expect something that they say they’re delivering but rarely ever do.
FUCKING SERIOUSLY
Also, for all the “FINN AND RACHEL ARE THE STARS OKAY” stuff, let’s look and see which characters/actors have been the ones used in the more recent promo stuff? That stuff usually features Kurt, Blaine, and Santana in SOME combo. So, to argue that they’re just background sideline characters is sort of arguing like we’re still in s1.
ALSO, THE COMPLETE AND UTTER BULLSHIT THAT IS THE EXCUSE MAKING FOR LACK OF NARRATIVE WEIGHT AND PDA AND SAYING IT’S JUST LOL ENTITLED SHIPPERS.
Hi, you know why I’m entitled about sweet lady kisses? BECAUSE I AM A QUEER LADY, AND I THINK IT’S HOT WHEN HOT LADIES KISS. Much in the same way that hetero folks think it’s hot when hot hetero folks kiss.
You guys, “queer” is not just this academic idea of ~perceiving the world~. It’s not just ~your identity~. It literally means that you like to fuck/fall in love with people of the same gender. So while I love the longing glances between Brittany and Santana and I love the way Kurt and Blaine navigate their identities within the real world, the point is that each of these characters FALL IN LOVE WITH AND FUCK PEOPLE OF THE SAME GENDER. So, yes, I like to see this explicated, because it is so very rarely demonstrated, and I don’t really appreciate it when queer characters are introduced and then their desire (ie, the THING THAT MAKES THEM QUEER) is conveniently sidelined.
Because it’s not Kurt’s love of weddings and Broadway that makes him gay. It’s not Santana’s love of Alanis Morissette that makes her gay. It’s the fact that these characters fall in love with and are sexually attracted to people of the same gender.
And it’s just so convenient that the scenes between these gay characters and their SOs are written in such a manner that intimacy is believably dangerous.

[image description: three panels of the Sailor Moon manga. The first shows a silhouette of Haruka’s face. Beside her in a free-floating text bubble that says “Guy or girl…” and on the other side of her head is the sound effect “clunk”. The next panel shows Haruka and Usagi with their foreheads pressed together, as if they were about to kiss. They are looking into each other’s eyes. Haruka looks taller and is crouching down to her level. Her hand is over Haruka’s. Usagi’s hair is swirling around them. Another floating speech bubble is over their head that says “Is that so important?” The last panel is a closeup of half of Usagi’s face, her expression difficult to read.
