I'm your trusty sidekick geek girl. (That was funnier to me when I actually owned a Sidekick.) I write about the books that I read over here. I like things, and stuff about things.
DID YOU KNOW: The Support of Gay Marriage in the United States 2012 is equal to the support of Interracial Marriage in the United States in the 90’s - both 53%.
God, I find it so disturbing that in the 90s almost half of Americans did not support interracial marriage. It’s actually really depressing to me.
What the fuck is wrong with people?! In what way do two people of different races bear ANY impact on anyone else’s lives… and I ask the exact same thing about people of the same sex. How does that bear ANY impact on your life unless you’re non-white or non-straight?
I am the product of an interracial marriage. How is it even possible that one out of every two people in the early 90s thought that my parents being married was wrong. And how is it even possible that one out of ever two people today thinks that two people who happen to be of the same sex being married is wrong?
Jesus fuck, isn’t there enough hate in the world already?
#end rant
times are a changin’
yet interracial marriage was legal in the 90’s and gay marriage isn’t legal (federally) in 2012
Part of the problem with polling is that just by subtle changes to the wording of the question can drastically change...
